Lend a Hand to a Devastated Community

The Bloom Farms Team makes it a point to get out and volunteer at least once a month in our communities. Calaveras County, home to Bloom Farms director Michael Ray, was recently devastated by the Butte fire. This fire wrecked thousands of structures leaving home owners and the County of Calaveras at a $800 million loss for those not coverage by insurance. This fire is among the costliest ever at $2 Billion in damages.

We spent the day sorting food for local pantries at the Resource Connection – Calaveras Food Bank. They drop of food to 9 different sites every month all through-out Calaveras. Donating our time we were able to complete a full days work for a single volunteer in a very short amount of time.

Director Michael Ray also made a donation to the following organizations focused on post-event recovery and supporting affiliated local nonprofits: Mountain Ranch Fire Relief Fund ($10,000 to support individual and emergency family needs) CalaverasGROWN ($5,000 to support soil erosion prevention efforts) Mountain Ranch Resource Center ($5,000 to support local community feeding program) The Resource Connection ($5,000 to support countywide food insecurity efforts).
